Siem Reap Service Trip (7-14 Feb 2020)

Regardless of poor governance and state of poverty, the children should not be the deprived of the basic needs, food and education. Sharing similar objectives, Kiwanis Club of KL and Lions Club Agape Star organised a joint Service Trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia in February. Working with a local NGO Touch*A*Life, we sponsored and prepared lunches for 200 children each on Friday and Monday and packed lunches for 700 people to be delivered to the villages at the edge of Angkor Wat on Saturday.

The second part of our Service Trip saw a few Kiwanians braving the dusty bumpy roads to Sambour Village Primary School, 35km from the city. With generous funding from KCKL and friends of Kiwanis, we were able to buy for the 300 young students and few teachers and staff, tootbrushes, toothpaste, washing detergent, soap, slippers, cooking utensils, notebooks and sponsored lunch and snacks for the 2 times we visited. Special thanks to NGO-Cambodia We Care and the dedicated teachers who helped organised the distribution .Despite the languange barrier, smiles and happy faces conveyed much gratitude !

Truly an eye-opener for us, city folks, and a real lesson of compassion and humanity.

We thank to the generous donors, namely, a close friend of Kiwanian Chin Siew Hing who donated cash of USD1,000.00 and the friends of Kiwanian Bee Lan whose contribution was used to purchase slippers for 330 children of Sambour Primary School.
